Abstract
Parenting is a fundamental part of the learning process of children, however, each of them grows in different cultures and acquires different contributions specific to their context. The objective of our research was to develop the term respectful parenting conceptually and theoretically, since this issue was diagnosed in the context of work practices and attracted our interest. In order to obtain this information and for the type of data, a mixed approach was used, focusing on the socio-critical paradigm. Various types of research were used for the methodology: descriptive, field, micro-sociological and empirical. The design of our research was based on action research. Finally, several methods were used: research, observation, analysis and the inductive method. In order to meet the objective of this research, we propose as a proposal to carry out a respectful parenting workshop aimed at families and thus, “contribute to the stimulation of respectful parenting with the families of classroom 1A of the First Education Center Antonio Borrero Vega, Cuenca - Ecuador”. When implementing and evaluating said respectful parenting workshop, we obtained the following results in accordance with the two types of evaluation: of the implementation process, there were discrepancies in the evaluation of the workshop; and results, a positive effect was observed when comparing the data before and after the workshop. Thus, we conclude that, although the respectful parenting workshop was successful, it is still necessary to stimulate respectful parenting with families and promote concepts such as: discipline, one that teaches adults to understand inappropriate infant behavior; mutual respect; horizontal parent-child relationship; etc. Finally, according to the theoretical review carried out, we can say that it is necessary to investigate respectful parenting much more and disseminate it through the media in order to convert it into public policy.
