Abstract
Environmental education in the student population has become a very relevant issue, it is necessary to build a concept that idealizes the need to take care of the world and everything that surrounds existence in it. Creating an environmental conscience is difficult because it tends to be an abstract subject and of an absolute personal conception. With the intention of contributing to the development of this concept, this research work focuses on designing a methodological guide that serves the teaching process of the climate crisis in fifth-year EGB students. It begins with a diagnosis in the educational and activist context where processes are carried out in order to know the status and treatment that is given to this issue. A theoretical foundation is made where the main concepts that govern and guide the development of an environmental awareness are addressed. A series of data is collected through two interviews that are carried out, one with an activist and the other with a professional tutor of Natural Sciences, a documentary review is used to finally analyze the data obtained through triangulation in order to obtain common points and discrepancies that result in a proposal that tries to represent the points in favor of environmental education. The conclusions mainly focus on what has been observed about the little interest that the Ecuadorian educational system gives to the teaching of a true environmental education. Detailed theoretical references give an idea that this phenomenon is seen in other settings. In the end, it is observed that this process of creating an environmental awareness must be carried out through a series of simple and executable activities, but always related to the original idea.
