Abstract
The present research study named Graphic story in the development of verbal language in children of 4-5 years at Elementary Education Center "Alonso Torres", Azogues-Ecuador. It aims to contribute to the development of verbal language in the teaching-learning process of the Comprehension and expression of language through the use of graphic stories. The research theoretically supported the development of language by authors such as Skinner, Piaget, Chomsky, Vygotsky, Bruner, Pacheco, and Chávez et al. As a reference for the graphic story, Castro and the elementary Education Curriculum were taken into account. The research approach is qualitative, with a socio-critical paradigm, of an applied type and an Action Research methodology. A chart of diagnostic categories was applied with the use of information collection techniques and instruments such as interviews, focus groups, and observation guides. The study allowed to know that the development of language in children of the 2C sublevel presents an adequate course in the morphosyntactic and semantic components. However, in the phonological and pragmatic aspect, there is limited development according to what is expected for the age and level of schooling. For this reason, an educational intervention was proposed based on the use of graphic stories that contribute to the strengthening of language in children, so it can be useful as a resource for teachers and families, who can apply this strategy for the benefit of children. The result of the implementation of the educational intervention is that the methodology parameters, organization, and content were reached. To conclude, it is obtained that the graphic story is a valid educational strategy to intervene in the development of children's language because it is innovative and motivating.
