Abstract
Knowledge and Information Society (SCI) demands a change of educational paradigm, the purpose is to implement technology in education, specifically in the area of Mathematics. This subject by its abstract nature presents greater difficulties in the Learning Teaching Process (LTP). Therefore, it must be mediated by ICT, as a didactic tool immersed in the classroom that enhances this process and improves learning outcomes. The present research has the purpose of identifying the positive impact of ICT in the LTP of Mathematics in the seventh “A” of the Educational Unit “Julio María Matovelle”, Cuenca. The main reason for the intervention is that it arouses interest in the subject and develops both digital and mathematical skills in the participants, which are essential today. This case analysis follows a mixed correlational line, due to the use, analysis and contrast of qualitative and quantitative data that allow triangulating and corroborating the benefits of ICT in the Mathematics PEA. The proposal consists of the microcurricular redesign implementing ICT in three curricular blocks of the Mathematics’ subject, operating in the fifth and sixth didactic units. The results show an increase of forty-six tenths in performance in general, during the implementation period, being the cases with grades less than five, they are most favored. Finally, the benefits of technology in Mathematics are evident, students are motivated to understand the subject through the use of digital technology.
