Abstract
Constructivism and the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) in the Language and Literature subject have had a positive impact on the role assumed by the teacher and the student in the virtual modality in which we find ourselves nowadays. The objective of this research was to enhance the motivation and participation of the ninth-year students of the "San Luis Beltrán" Educational Unit. For this, a research methodology with a qualitative approach was used under the socio- critical paradigm through action research. The information gathering techniques and instruments were: field diary, participant observation, interview, and observation guide. The analysis of results is based on the triangulation of data, and descriptive statistics. In the diagnosis, it was found that students are not motivated, which generated weaknesses in participation, motivation and the development of communication skills. Therefore, a proposal was designed in order to design, apply and evaluate a virtual platform, in which the student is an active participant in their own learning through activities proposed by practicing teachers for several synchronous class sessions using the educational platform Google Classroom. After its application and based on the collected information, it was concluded that its implementation, together with attractive online activities based on the active learning of students, promoted and stimulated the participation of students.
