Abstract
The objective of the research was to design a virtual learning community for academic reinforcement focused on strengthening the reading comprehension of eighth grade students of the “Ricardo Muñoz Chávez” Educational Unit. The theoretical foundations were virtual learning community, reading comprehension and academic reinforcement. The research approach was mixed, with quantitative and qualitative techniques and instruments: participant observation, semi-structured interview, documentary analysis, initial test and field diaries. The research problem was related to low levels of reading comprehension in eighth grade, which caused poor performance. The sample consisted of 41 students, 22 female and 19 male. As a contribution to address the indicated reality, the written design of a proposal for the CAV Virtual Learning Community was chosen, focused on strengthening reading comprehension. The conclusions reached are that academic reinforcement virtual learning communities should be applied, which will allow students to improve their reading comprehension and academic performance. And the design of the BAC must contain the characteristics of an educational management project, with didactic strategies that allow the fulfillment of the proposed objectives.
