Abstract: The purpose of this research work called “The educational process in the transfer of ancestral knowledge in the southern zone of Ecuador” was intended to verify the application of the Bilingual Intercultural Education System Model (MOSEIB) in the Intercultural Bilingual Community Educational Centers of the Southern zone of Ecuador. It has a mixed approach, with a descriptive exploratory type; a survey was applied to collect information, based on the evaluation criteria and indicators set on the MOSEIB curriculum, this instrument was applied to 36.5% of the teachers that are enrolled in the Bilingual Intercultural Education Program that belongs to the Ministry of Education, in the provinces of Loja, El Oro and Zamora. In total, 208 out of 570 teachers were surveyed. The present study was supported by the theory and the legal backup, reaching the conclusion that the application of the MOSEIB occurs in 53.3% of the cases at a good level, 18.3% of the time it is applied at a very good level, and the rest of the ocations at regular and deficient levels, since there are shortcomings that limit the transfer of ancestral knowledge. The loss of social identity is due to limited teacher education and training, as well as the lack of commitment of the community and all the members of the bilingual intercultural educational system, who must work together to maintain and rescue their culture and their native language.
