Abstract
This research has the objective of applying a guide of didactic activities based on visual thinking to encourage reading in students of the second year of EGB parallel "A" in the Ignacio Escandón School of Basic Education, within the Basic General Education career. of the National University of Education of Ecuador. This work is developed in the socio-critical paradigm, within the action research method with a qualitative approach, in order to stimulate students in turn, acquire the taste and desire for reading. The results show that the students obtained a high level of satisfaction in learning to read due to the applied activities that are in the guide. In addition, stimulation through visual thinking is as necessary for the development of teaching and learning as the basis of feeling stimulated from our sense of sight. It is concluded that the guide is of great help and in turn more activities can be created that help develop an initiative towards reading.
