Abstract
This research work arises from the pre-professional practices carried out at CEI Tomás Sacoto, with children from 3 to 4 years old from the city of Biblián, Cañar, Ecuador. In this context, during the internship weeks, the lack of environmental sensitivity within the initial classrooms could be evidenced, since the exorbitant use of paper and plastic has a harmful impact on the environment, deteriorating their lives and resources. For this reason, it is planned to propose a transversal learning experience planning that contributes to environmental awareness, by reducing the use of paper and plastic aimed at infants in initial education sublevel 2, in order to generate a mindset shift in the subjects of study. That is why, theoretical foundations of authors such as: Romero and Camacho, Quezada, Soto, among others, are included, which support the importance of environmental awareness and patterns of consumption of paper and plastic as analytical categories mentioned later. This research uses a qualitative methodology, influenced by action research. Techniques such as: the interview, focus groups and surveys that were applied to teachers, infants and representatives were used. After the diagnosis, implementation and evaluation, the results were obtained from which it is highlighted that infants and the classroom community were able to experience, know and integrate the knowledge necessary to raise awareness of the importance of environmental awareness from an early age through teaching work and the implementation of the proposal for learning experience from a transversal approach that encompasses five areas of the Initial Education Curriculum.
