Abstract
This research addresses a topic that affects learning in Bilingual Intercultural Education. It is about the migration of parents and relatives of students from 6th to 10th grade of the UECIB "ABC" of Tenta, in the Saraguro canton of the province of Loja. The migration of people, in search of a better standard of living, has an impact on the education of children; that is, when members of the child's family migrate, school performance is affected and they attend classes less frequently (this was evidenced during the interviews carried out, it was also reflected in the oral reports). Also, being from a Kichwa community, the children stop speaking the language of the nationality and prefer to learn another language such as English. Therefore, experiences on the impact of migration on teaching-learning processes and its consequences were studied: school dropout, loss or disinterest in the Kichwa language and the process of student knowledge development. A qualitative field research work was carried out, in which several cases of migrant families, of students of the already mentioned grades, were investigated. The following instruments were used: interviews with teachers, oral stories, students and family members, participant observation and survey. Information was recorded in interview transcripts, field journals, videos, audio recordings, and photographs.
