Abstract
This research work arose from the need to contribute to the teaching-learning process of recreational reading in the fourth year of Basic General Education at the "Manuel Muñoz Cordero" School. Its purpose was to strengthen the link between the book and the student and in turn provide a didactic tool to promote the reading habit, since these skills were not developed during the virtual education modality or in the real face-to-face. It is evident, through direct observation during the pre-professional practices carried out in said establishment, that the students present a certain taste for reading, but they lack stimulation and motivating didactic material. Methodologically, the qualitative approach was used through a descriptive design with the use of participant observation, interviews, pre-test, question guide and post-test as information gathering techniques that facilitated the elaboration and evaluation of the implemented proposal. The results achieved were significant because they contributed to the promotion of reading through the cardboard book that gave the student the opportunity to recreate and learn on their own, leaving aside the vision of reading as a mandatory activity.
