Abstract
The present work is focused on the improvement of reading comprehension, for this reason a didactic guide was designed to be applied in the teaching-learning process of the subject of Language and Literature in the middle sublevel of Basic General Education, of the school " Manuel Muñoz Cordero" located in the city of Azogues. This research was based on a participant observation, both virtual and face-to-face; where the students did not develop a good reading comprehension when facing the texts proposed by the teacher. That is why, as the pre-professional practices were carried out, this reading aspect was taken into account. For the collection of information, instruments such as: field diaries, interviews, surveys, observation guide were used. A pre and post test was also carried out, which allowed us to know the level of reading and comprehension that the students had, within the three levels of reading comprehension: literal, inferential and evaluative critic. The research considered the qualitative approach and the socio-critical paradigm that articulated the different activities. At the end, positive results were obtained, since the students improved their reading practices and the levels of reading comprehension were developed according to the grade in which they are.
