Abstract
The adaptive skills refer to the set of skills, behaviors and abilities within the different contexts that allow people to interact in their school and daily life. The purpose of this degree project is to contribute to the strengthening of social adaptive skills in the autonomous development of students with Down syndrome. This research was developed at the "Manuela Espejo" Educational Unit.
According to what was observed within the context of practices, a guide of methodological strategies for the development of social adaptive skills was proposed. This guide has different activities to work on respect, companionship, rules, greetings and behavior.
This research was conducted with an interpretative paradigm and a qualitative approach. The main method used was the case study which was constructed with different techniques and instruments. The techniques used were the interview and participant observation; the instruments used were field diaries and an observation guide, and finally, there was a data triangulation that allowed an analysis of the results and the construction of the proposal.
There is no process that facilitates the management of social adaptive skills, being necessary a system that facilitates this development in the student and his peers. Therefore, it is hoped that this methodological guide can be used for the development of these skills.
