Abstract
The objective of this research is to contribute through playful strategies to improve the process of teaching and learning English in children from 4 to 5 years of age in sub-level II "B" of the CEI "Antonio Borrero Vega", since one of the relevant aspects that was evidenced was the integration of English as an additional subject taught by the institution, promoting the development of bilingualism in infants. Likewise, the children show interest and motivation to learn this language. To support this project, an exhaustive analysis of bibliographic sources, national and legal documents was carried out. Likewise, this work is based on a qualitative field research approach, with a socio-critical paradigm. The methodology applied is the case study and for data collection, research techniques and instruments such as field diaries, interviews and observation guides were used to construct the matrix of categories and first and second level coding analysis, which allowed obtaining a diagnosis. Based on the results, a playful booklet called English for little explorers was designed as an intervention proposal with 10 activities that reflect an active participation of the child in the acquisition of a second language. Therefore, it is concluded that through innovative and meaningful play strategies it is possible to obtain better results in the development of learning in early childhood, as well as to stimulate and enhance other skills and abilities in the child.
