Resumen : The study investigated the manifestation and evolution of eponymic terms in the everyday language of Ecuadorian university teachers, considering historical, cultural and linguistic factors. It was analysed how the phenomenon of eponymy manifests itself in the everyday language of university professors and conceptualized its training and evolution. Interviews were conducted with 25 teachers. Bibliographic material was evaluated, and data were coded using Atlas.ti version 24. Categories, codes, dimensions and subdimensions emerging from the testimonies were identified and analysed. Three main categories were identified: “Evolution of Eponymic Terms”, “Cultural Importance Granted by University Faculty” and “Key Use in the Teaching-Learning Process”. The results highlighted the adaptation and familiarity with eponymic terms, their impact on professional identity and communication, and their value in education. Eponymic terms facilitate communication and teaching, creating a professional identity and reflecting technological and cultural changes in the Ecuadorian educational context.
