Abstract
This degree work is focused on the development and implementation of a guide of didactic strategies that improve the reading comprehension of elementary school students. The problem of the project arises in the course of the pre-professional practices in the Fourth Year of Basic General Education of the Sayausí Educational Unit, Cuenca-Ecuador, where students have difficulties understanding what they read. The research was carried out with a sample of 16 students from the Fourth Year of Basic General Education "B" of the Sayausí Educational Unit, applying two diagnostic tests. In addition, the participatory action research (PAR) method is used, and it is complemented with its 4 phases to work with this method. The proposal consists of a guide of didactic strategies with the aim of promoting comprehensive reading in children in the fourth year of parallel General Basic education "B". The didactic strategies guide has 10 strategies each with its respective reading and activities to be carried out in the classroom. According to the analysis carried out of the different data collection instruments, the application of pretest and posttest, and the implementation of the proposal, it is said that fourth year students improved their reading comprehension. Obtaining better results in the second test applied after intervening with the proposal.
