Abstract
Nowadays, Mathematics classes usually need to use active methodologies for the student's teaching-learning process, as they turn the classroom into a space for motivation, participation, and fun, essential items for the student's learning. For this reason, the purpose of this degree project is to analyze the contribution of Gamification as an active methodology to improve the teaching-learning process of addition and subtraction operations in the second grade of Basic General Education of two Public Educational Institutions located in the cities of Azogues and Cuenca. This research has a qualitative nature that allows the collection, selection, organization, and analysis of data on the issue of this search. We obtained this information using methodological tools such as field diaries, interviews, and diagnostic tests. As a result, Gamification is determined as an active methodology of great importance for the student's needs because they can learn class content through games. In conclusion, gamified activities are a good learning strategy since they will awaken student interest in learning. Through it, the students will be able to acquire significant knowledge and feel more motivated to participate.
