Abstract
This research focuses on the role of the manager in the preparation of high school teachers for reading development in students of the Julio Maria Matovelle Fiscomisional Educational Unit. Based on this problem, the general objective is to propose a teacher-training plan to develop reading skill. The research performs from the socio-critical paradigm and the qualitative approach. In addition, the methodology of the case study is applied, form by the director and the high school teachers of the aforementioned Educational Unit. Techniques such as interview, observation and document analysis were selected, whose results were triangulated. These results showed that, teachers have not received training in order to develop reading skills and they do not know how to work it properly. While students do not read frequently, so they do not have a reading habit and have difficulties in reading comprehension too. To solve these difficulties, a training plan based on the Lesson Study and cooperative work is designed. It is structured by, foundation, legal framework, objective, methodological principles, training route, monitoring and evaluation, improvement plan and the researchers' assessment of the results that are expected to be achieved with the application of this proposal. As a conclusion, the training plan will prepare teachers for the development of reading skill, in which the role of the manager plays a fundamental part in this study and in the quality of the educational institution.
