Abstract
The present article reflects on the role of the teacher in the distance education of schoolchildren during the covid-19 pandemic. The research is qualitative approach, and it was developed under the interpretative paradigm, channeled in the phenomenological method. It was developed with three teachers working in two educational institutions belonging to the municipality of Porto-Piauí, Brazil, they represented the key informants. The in-depth interview was used as a technique. The findings show the pros and cons of this type of education, as well as the stren- gthening of pedagogical practices in the face of the difficulties of parents, students, teachers and educational management group, in the face of distance education due to the pandemic.
