Abstract
The objective of this research is to contribute to improving functional communication in a student with anarthria by creating inclusive environments at the academic, social and family levels. The intervention proposal is based on a single case study that was developed during the first and second years of basic "A" of the Special Educational Unit "Agustín Cueva Tamariz", located in the city of Cuenca. The unit of analysis corresponds to a student with anarthria, who manifests with marked difficulties in the development of oral language and an adequate comprehensive language. The information was collected through the techniques of participant observation, interviews and analysis of documents reflected in qualitative research instruments such as field diaries, semi-structured interviews, checklist, bibliographic records and the speech therapy exploration guide provided by the categories and subcategories of analysis raised in this proposal. It was processed using the data triangulation technique and served as the basis for structuring the single case. The intervention considers activities based on alternative and augmentative communication systems (SAAC) aimed at improving functional communication. The proposal considers the development of skills related to the identification of the people around them, communicating their emotions and needs, developing the attention processes and finally working on the stimulation of the bucco-facial organs, so that the girl is able to maintain activities according to their age and needs.
