Abstract
The present research work aims to study self-care skills in children with intellectual disabilities, through which a system of activities is proposed to promote self-care skills in students with intellectual disabilities. This qualitative study with a socio-critical paradigm seeks a change in social reality and is focused on the case study proposed by Stake (2007). The information was obtained from various sources such as literature review, interview with the teacher, interview with the representative and observation. The results obtained after the analysis show that the girl does not perform activities of daily living, such as personal hygiene, household hygiene, dressing alone and feeding herself, dependence and the need for constant supervision are evident. The conclusions reached by this research are: that the development of self-care skills are important to improve the quality of life and independence, even more so in children who have a condition of intellectual disability, favoring their development and inclusion in society, on the other hand, the significance of interventions at an early age is highlighted as well as the work in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team of the institution and the representative e of the girl for better results.
