Abstract
The objective of the current research is: to elaborate a SAAC for the improvement of the communication of a person with Down Syndrome of the Huiracocha Tutivén Center (Cedin Down). Therefore, for the development of this project and the fulfillment of its objective, various conceptual aspects are addressed such as: Down Syndrome, the development of communication in people with Down Syndrome, SAAC, and the use of SAAC for the language and communication development in people with Down syndrome. In addition, this research project is developed with a qualitative approach, taking the case study as the main method and has been executed in several phases such as: pre-active phase, interactive phase and post-active phase, within which several have been used. Qualitative information gathering techniques and instruments such as: documentary review, participant observation, interviews and checklist, which were processed through data triangulation, which allowed knowing the current state of language development and communication of the case addressed within the investigation. Based on the communication needs identified in a person with Down Syndrome, we proceed to develop the intervention proposal focused on contributing to the improvement of communication in the case addressed. The proposed proposal consists of designing and structuring a digital communication board, which contains different images or pictograms contextualized to the reality and communication skills of the beneficiary; The communication board is created in order to satisfy basic and communicative needs, providing support for communicative interaction between parents, teachers or anyone from a social context.
