Abstract
This research gives special attention to the problem of school dropouts, poor performance, poor reading comprehension, vocabulary insufficient, inarticulate and argüe the issue of a problem, research is committed provide a teaching unit on teaching strategies to help the development of critical thinking through reading the 7th year students "B" of the Education Unit "Middle of the World". Its objective is to obtain a better meaningful leaming, optimizing the quality of study, academic performance, the acquisition of valúes and develop critical thinking through reading. Methodologically it stood at a studio type project feasible under a field design with a population of forty-five (45) students. For the information of subjeets technique observation was employed, an instrument a checklist aimed at students of the institution, which was recorded five Ítems closed type was recorded. six activities that enabled developing strategies reading comprehension and critical thinking was applied. This work highlighted the need to promote strategies for students and thus be an altemative for improving educational quality leaming and teaching within the institution.
