Abstract
This study addresses the problems of the teaching-learning process and the acquisition and strengthening of reading and writing skills in the Kichwa language at the UECIB fiscomisional "Mushuk Kawsay" in the 6th grade of EGB. Teachers face difficulties when teaching due to the lack of knowledge about the use of innovative teaching strategies and methodologies to facilitate the learning process and the acquisition of new knowledge or communicative skills. In order to overcome this limitation, an action-research methodology was used that involved the implementation of gamification as a pedagogical approach because it provides significant benefits in education. Among the results obtained during the inquiry cycle, it was revealed that gamification as a strategy allowed students to create a more playful learning environment, fostering motivation and persistence in language learning, as well as increased critical thinking, interactive learning and active participation, obtaining the role of main actors in the training process in terms of knowledge acquisition. Consequently, the gamification of the teaching process promises to be a didactic and effective strategy to improve the reading and writing of the Kichwa language or language of the nationality, providing teachers with an innovative tool to enrich their pedagogical practice by promoting greater interaction, motivation and commitment on the part of the students.
