Abstract
In the context of the pre-professional practices developed in the area of Mathematics in the eighth year of Basic General Education of the Luis Cordero Educational Unit, a didactic sequence was designed to enable the teaching of basic operations with whole numbers starting from of the analysis of the methodology applied in the eighth classroom of said institution, contrasting with the methodology applied in the La Providencia Educational Unit, which leads the first place at the provincial level according to the results of Ser Bachiller test scores for three consecutive school years, it is evident that its teaching-learning methodology helps students acquire better results. For this project the theoretical elements that support its design and the design of its proposal were reflected. Regarding the methodological process, qualitative research is chosen, participant observation and teacher interview are used, as field diaries and a questionnaire were used as instruments. The results of the analysis of the applied methodologies served as references for the design of the didactic sequence, which will strengthen the teaching-learning process of mathematics, pertinent and attached to the curricular approaches of the school year. This sequence is open to adaptations that can be modified according to the criteria of the person who applies it.
