Abstract
The current era has brought with it, a number of advances, being prevailing, students with a high level of preparation, a challenge that demands of the teacher drastic changes oriented to this purpose which implies the search of tools oriented to develop especially critical thinking and reflective that allows him to face the society in which he will develop, this being the cause for the development of this master's thesis, based on the theories of Ausubel and Vygotsky. When implementing the didactic unit titled "Conquest and Colonization of America", whose objective was to develop competences about the Inca culture and life through the implementation of innovative strategies using discovery methods and expositions in order to know the origin, the form of life of our ancestors, their scientific legacy to humanity. The permanent work with participative active techniques were key factors to achieve the constant cooperation of the students in the work teams. In the evaluation of the teaching practice the result shows that the activities designed for the sessions allowed the student to reach the achievement of the desired learning results. It is also recommended to implement activities that allow greater autonomy to students in the development of problems applied to their context.
