Abstract
The present research focuses on addressing reading comprehension in the context of the sixth grade of Basic Education, with the aim of strengthening it through a functional dimension. To this end, we designed a library as an educational intervention proposal, accompanied by an activity guide that includes a literary café, character journals, hidden treasure, and literary cinema. Our theoretical framework is grounded in the study of the subject at three levels: literal, inferential, and critical; the didactics of Language and Literature; the curriculum; and the functional approach for its enhancement. The methodological design encompasses a socio-critical paradigm with a qualitative approach, followed by an action-research method. The results show that the functional dimension enhances motivation, promotes reading habits, and contributes to the development of communicative and reflective skills.
