Abstract
Social skills become very important in adolescence, since it is at this stage that they develop their personality. For this reason, the general objective of this study is to propose a guide of educational activities to contribute to the improvement of social skills of a student with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) who is 17 years old and is in the second year of high school at the Special Education Unit "Manuela Espejo". The research is developed from an interpretive paradigm, in turn it is based on a qualitative approach and is based on the methodology of the single case study also supported by three phases, which are: preactive, interactive, and postactive. Information was also collected through different techniques and instruments previously selected, such as field diaries, interviews and documentary analysis. The results obtained showed that the student presents difficulties in terms of social skills, specifically in interpersonal skills and abilities such as: decision making, working in groups, expressing and recognizing feelings, etc. Similarly, based on these results, strengths and weaknesses were obtained, which helped with the elaboration and development of the proposal, thus considering all the needs of the student in order to achieve improvement in such important skills. In addition, this proposal is intended to promote better interaction, socialization and participation in academic activities and daily life.
