Abstract
The degree work was developed in the fourth year of Basic General Education (E.G.B.) of the “Francisco Febres Cordero” Educational Unit. The objective was: To elaborate a didactic strategy, through field work, to improve the learning of the content of block two "Human beings in space" in the area of Social Studies in the 4th year of the (EGB) for what which was worked with a qualitative methodology and a socio-critical approach, research techniques and instruments were used such as non-participant observation, the application of field diaries, in the same way, the use of interviews directed to the teacher and students of the room year of EGB, as well as the review of institutional documents, through their use, favorable results were found, among which are considered: that the teaching of the contents and tasks must be based on the "interests and needs" of the student, there is interest in carrying out activities in their natural environment, given "the possibility of greater experiences", "the class becomes more creative and one learns better". In conclusion, field work allows to guide the learning of students through motivation; in addition, to achieve significant learning through relating the new content with those that the student possesses through direct experimentation with the object of study; promote autonomy in learning a condition that is and has been necessary to achieve a good development in the individual in a personal way; and agree on relationships between natural and social elements. In short, field work develops social, cognitive, emotional and research skills. Which is sought from the exit profile of the Ecuadorian high school.
