Abstract
The purpose of this research is the design, implementation and evaluation of a didactic strategy for learning flat geometry, with the purpose of contributing to the improvement in the learning of areas and perimeters of quadrilaterals and triangles in the students of the seventh year of the UE “Luis Cordero” applying the Van Hiele model. The Van Hiele model is introduced from the learning phases for the organization of the activities of the didactic strategy, which will help to measure to reflect the level of geometric reasoning that students have in mathematics of the geometry and measurement block. The study adopted a Participatory Action Research methodology with a qualitative approach, where the researcher participated directly in her own research, in which a diagnostic test was conducted in which the level of geometric reasoning that the students possessed was significantly demonstrated. before applying the didactic strategy based on the Van Hiele Model. According to the results, the benefits obtained by implementing a didactic strategy that allowed the learning of conceptual and procedural knowledge in the areas and perimeters of quadrilaterals and triangles in the area of Geometry, and the introduction of the model of Van Hiele's geometric reasoning in the development of geometric skills according to the levels and phases that apply. Consequently, this research is expected to stimulate math teachers to change their traditional methodology of teaching and valuing geometric knowledge by the implementation of didactic strategies that help the development of student's skills, abilities and logical reasoning through the effectiveness of the Van Hiele model applied to the teaching of flat geometry.
