Abstract
In the present Curricular Integration work, the teaching and learning process of addition in fifth-year General Basic Education (EGB) students is studied. The objective of the study was to develop a didactic intervention based on Game-Based Learning to strengthen the understanding of addition through playful and collaborative activities. The results obtained show a 15% increase in the academic performance of students according to the applied diagnostic tests, demonstrating an improvement in the ability to solve addition problems using manipulative materials. The purpose of this study was to identify the problems students face when learning addition and design an educational intervention that addresses these problems through strategies based on Game-Based Learning. This approach provides concrete and contextualized solutions to the challenges identified in the classroom, contributing to a more meaningful educational experience. The general objective of the research was to develop a didactic intervention based on Game-Based Learning to strengthen the understanding of addition in fifth-grade EGB students. This intervention was implemented through playful activities involving manipulatives and collaborative exercises, aiming to promote more active and participatory learning. The results of this study contribute to enriching teaching practices in the classroom, offering an effective alternative for teaching addition that promotes meaningful learning and active student participation. This didactic proposal not only improves academic performance but also fosters a positive attitude towards mathematics and learning in general.
