Abstract
In this research work, emotional containment is proposed as a strategy to reduce school dropout. It will take place during the 2020-2021 school year at the P.C.E.I Eloy Alfaro Educational Unit in Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas, whose schooling is extraordinary intensive. The subjects participating in the research are students who attend Basic General Education, of two parallels. In this, the objective of this writing is framed in proposing emotional containment as a strategy to reduce school dropout. The research was of a mixed approach with an exploratory descriptive scope, using information collection techniques such as participant observation, interview, survey; similarly, for the validation of the proposal, the focus group is used with the presence of experts. As a main result, it is evident that in the educational processes in young people and adults it is necessary to include emotional containment strategies due to the socio-pedagogical characteristics that they present, and that their timely application helps to mitigate school failure. Finally, a systematic work route oriented to the educational community of the institution is established.
