Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate the appropriation’s degree of ICT in the students of the “Luis Cordero” School located in Azogues; to reach this goal we need to introduce a methodological alternative that is, a theoretical-critical approach within the data analysis to finally achieve the proposed objective of this research.
The data collected were obtained through the application of a survey called “Hábitos y prácticas culturales”, which is made up of three general modules and twelve sectorial modules. Four of which are linked and oriented to identify the technological appropriation based on uses and habits. The results show that there is a level of appropriation, where the access is highlighted, however, oblivious to the other aspects that make a path to an integral appropriation; they are: learning, integration or incorporation, transformation and evolution.
However, to understand this process, it has been necessary to place the new media in a different logic, modifying conceptions that limit the structural progress of current education. For this purpose, we develop strategies that allows to reach the desired level of technological appropriation. This allows to observe ICTs from another angle and stay away of utilitarian ideas.
It is important to mention that this study tries to provide a different approach and perception of technological indicators in the environment and provide relevant data that allow the educational unit and the research field to plan actions that could improve pedagogically, being this the first step to enhance the activities carried out in relation to ICT’s appropriation and interdisciplinary.
