Abstract
The purpose of this degree work is to use the "Project Method" teaching strategy. The theoretical references of the project method were systematized, the development of labor competencies was characterized to then define and apply the project method for the development of labor competencies in 20 students of the second year of high school in the technical module of Welding of the "Febres Cordero" Technical Industrial School in the city of Guayaquil, where projects were proposed to recover equipment and machine tools "written off" due to lack of maintenance and time of use. With respect to the approach of this study, it is mixed, because it seeks to recognize the meaning of the social facts in its environment in order to remake it, therefore, this approach is under the cover of the socio-critical paradigm. Methods and techniques such as observation, interview and survey were used in the collection of information. To diagnose the level of labor competencies of the students, a pretest and a posttest were applied, the results obtained help us to determine the labor skills of the students that should be strengthened and improved, achieving that the average of grades of the first quarter of 5.87 rises at the end of the project in the 2nd quarter to 7.42. Thus, it is proven that the project method is helpful in the technical modules and it is recommended that other professional figures apply the project method as a teaching strategy.
