Abstract
The purpose of this research is to design a proposal that helps the development of verbal communication, since this curricular integration project has focused on a single case study of a ten-year-old student with Autism Spectrum Disorder, who is in the fourth year of EGBF at the Manuela Espejo Special Education Unit, and who presents difficulties in the area of verbal communication, which makes it difficult for him to express his feelings, emotions and thoughts in his environment. The general objective of this project is to propose a system of activities based on the PECS Picture Exchange Communication Method for the development of verbal communication. In addition, this research was developed along the lines of the qualitative approach based on a single case study that through the preactive, interactive and postactive phases allowed to collect data for the characterization of the case. Finally, as a product of this research we find the system of activities implemented in a communicative agenda to work with the PECS method in order to contribute to the development of verbal communication and promote communication skills that contribute to a better quality of life for students with autism spectrum disorder.
