Abstract
In the last two years education in Ecuador has had several changes such as the use of the prioritized curriculum which does not address all the necessary content to understand organic chemistry, this when returning to the classroom became notorious deficit of this prior knowledge, as there were difficulties in understanding the topics covered in the classroom. This caused students to have low grades and difficulties to master the topics of organic chemistry. This is why a solution is sought to improve the learning of students and this research project aims to analyze the use of augmented reality for the learning of oxygenated compounds of organic chemistry in the students of Third BGU of the Manuel J. Calle Educational Unit. We work with 118 students who are divided into three parallels which are A, B and C, with a type of experimental research, having a socio-critical paradigm and a mixed approach. During the pre-professional practices we work with the implementation of augmented reality which is divided into 4 phases that are: planning, implementation, evaluation and analysis of results, in the topics that comprise the oxygenated compounds have a total duration of 11 weeks, a pretest and posttest was applied to students, which later gave as a favorable result at the time of analysis, which showed that the proposal meets the objective of improving the learning of students, as a result the domain in nomenclature, formulation, chemical reactions, physical and chemical properties. In this way, students know the utilities and compositions of each oxygenated compound together with its functional group. Likewise, the students improved their grades in the didactic unit on oxygenated compounds, which reflects that the use of augmented reality was of great help to the students.
