Abstract
The present research work arises from what was observed in the pre-professional practices carried out in the Manuela Espejo Specialized Educational Unit at the initial level, in the city of Azogues, the research aims to contribute to the recognition of sexuality in a child with syndrome Down who attends the educational unit mentioned above, where I can identify the need to deepen in teaching processes - learning about comprehensive sexuality and the recognition of their body. To approach the study, the qualitative research paradigm is considered, structured from the methodologies of the single case study and participant observation, with a human rights approach structured from the socio-critical paradigm. The research techniques were observation, interview and literature review. The instruments used for the collection of information were: field diary, semi-structured interview script, content and bibliographic records. In addition, we worked from the elaboration of the case profile, NEFUCCHA and psychosocial history. Based on the information obtained, the proposal addressed to the teacher was elaborated with educational strategies that help the recognition of sexuality in children with Down syndrome from an inclusion process thought of the individuality of each student. The investigation is concluded with positive results that direct us to the importance of a comprehensive sexual education in children with Down syndrome, from the early stages of their childhood to achieving independence and autonomy at older ages, in the same way the care and respect for their body as a whole being who enjoys their rights without any distinction or discrimination.
