Abstract
Early childhood is a central stage of life. Protecting, caring for and serving the little ones is a priority for any country in the world. Theoretical advances and research have revealed how quality early education supports later learning, as well as being a powerful tool for reducing inequalities. The crisis generated by COVID-19 has made it possible to assess this phase of life for further development. Comprehensive and intersectoral public policies, quality educational proposals, and collaborative strategies in which very diverse agents, institutions and actors participate are necessary, which allows an adequate response to the needs of children and young people. The Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI) has been working for more than seventy years with the governments of the Ibero-American countries to strengthen their policies and initiatives aimed at improving the quality of education offered to the early childhood. Successful experiences have been identified and shared, through the articulation of efforts and seeking synergies, in a logic of horizontal cooperation in accordance with the Sustainable Development Goal 17 (ODS17), of the United Nations International Agenda.
