Abstract
The development of motor skills is a subject of great research value; because they allow the performance of more complex activities that forge the autonomy of people. This research is aimed at developing basic skills in students with intellectual disabilities of the IPCA; from a system of recreational activities based on an inclusive education. For this, the theoretical foundations that would support the work were investigated; which consider that the development of these skills is based on activities such as: running, jumping, climbing, crawling or others; that are essential for the survival of the human being and allow to carry out vital functions such as personal transportation, access to verbal and non-verbal communication and accessibility to working life, among others. This research was developed at the Institute of Cerebral Palsy of Azuay, it is based on an interpretative paradigm, the qualitative approach and as a method the case study, made up of students with intellectual disabilities of Academic Level 2. The techniques and instruments were participant observation, semi-structured interviews, the field diary and the interview guide, which allowed diagnosing the current state of the development of motor skills, taking into account the category of analysis, the analysis and interpretation of the results was carried out, contrasted by a triangulation of data, showing that these students have failures in the transfer and coordination of movements. This diagnostic result led to proposing the system of recreational activities based on an inclusive education that allows us to respond to the problem of this research.
