Abstract
Mathematics education is very important for the integral development of the person, but generally, students identify it as complex and not very entertaining. Additionally, COVID-19 caused a necessary virtual education and the use of ICTs. Therefore, the objective of the project is to design a didactic proposal to solve the problems that arise in the classroom of ninth parallels ¨A¨ and ¨B¨ at Luis Cordero Educational Unit (UELC) in Azogues, in the 2020-2021 school period. The study is qualitative action research that analyzes the resolution of mathematical problems and collaborative work. The methodological tools used were field notes, teachers’ interviews, and focus groups discussion. As a result, it is determined that gamification is a response to the educational needs that arise in the UELC mathematics classroom, then, the construction of a didactic proposal is carried out that has the gamification model as a pedagogical basis. In conclusion, the pandemic affected several areas of life such as education, and the urgent need to find solutions to virtual education was seen. Consequently, to achieve a better learning environment in the mathematics classroom, it is convenient to apply gamification.
