Abstract
The present research aims to strengthen sustained attention through activities based on the Game-Based Learning strategy, accompanied by the phases of mathematical development to analyze how this influence the teaching-learning process of multiplication in fifth-year EGB parallel "A" students of the "Leoncio Cordero Jaramillo" Educational Unit. It is intended to create a dynamic, motivating and participatory learning environment to maintain sustained attention during the development of knowledge about multiplicative combinations (multiplication tables) and multiplication operations through the different games. By incorporating the phases of mathematical development that begins from the concrete, graphic and symbolic, students have the opportunity to manipulate, visualize and understand in a deeper way the multiplication tables and the process of the multiplication algorithm. On the other hand, the methodological process of this research is based on the socio-critical paradigm, with a qualitative approach and a method of research - action. In addition, various techniques were implemented accompanied by instruments for the collection of information before and after the implementation of the proposal. This research concludes that by implementing the game-based strategy with the phases of mathematical development, it is possible to motivate students and strengthen sustained attention, which favors the teaching-learning process of multiplication.
