Abstract
This research focuses on the development of social skills in children with Down syndrome because it is important to provide adequate support and guidance to improve learning processes. Disability does not mean that the child cannot be independent and socially involved, on the contrary, social skills and school participation must be strengthened so that emotional and social engagement with those around them can be developed in an educational context. In social skills, the most relevant theoretical categories in this study are communication, expression, self-control, empathy and emotional aspects. On the other hand, the methodological field is based on qualitative approaches and their interpretive models for this process, the case study was taken as the main research method, therefore, different techniques and tools were used to collect information such as literature reviews, participant observations and psychoeducational sheets. For the design of the research proposal, it is proposed to develop a didactic strategy to stimulate the development of social skills in children with Down syndrome from the special education unit linked to Agustín Cueva Tamariz. A fundamental role in the development of this research aimed at improving the learning process of these children.
