Abstract
The present research work arises from the preprofessional practice, following the line of research proposed by the Universidad Nacional de Educación - UNAE. This project focused on the implementation of a didactic sequence based on the Singapore method for the development of statistics and probability mathematical skills in the 9th year of EGB. The didactic sequence was developed in 9 periods of 40 minutes, in which the work focused on C - P - A (Concrete, Pictorial, Abstract) was proposed. The project was carried out based on the mixed research methodology in the High School "Ricardo Muñoz Chávez" located in the city of Cuenca. This project was worked through a simple random non-probabilistic sampling with 9th grade students, which has 41 participants, 23 women and 18 men, ranging between 12 and 16 years of age. In addition, qualitative instruments (participant observation, documentary review and focus groups) and quantitative instruments (pre- and post-test) were used. The results of the titling work in relation to the project were in the pre- and post-test the following averages were obtained over 10 points, considering that the results were analyzed from the 3 skills with performance criteria (DCD) developed through the didactic sequence: pretest 2.10 points that are 21% of the development of the mathematical and post-test DCD 6.80 points that are 68% of the development of the mathematical DCD, considering that there was an increase of 47% in the total development of the DCD mathematics. In addition, in the focus group and the review of information tools it was found that the implementation of the Singapore method promotes motivation, problem solving, active participation and the development of mathematical skills. Therefore, the teaching of mathematics through the Singapore method allows the development of mathematical skills in statistics and probability through a teaching that considers the Concrete - Pictorial - Abstract and the active participation of students.
