Abstract
The objective of this investigation project is to describe how activities were developed to strengthen the levels of reading comprehension in the students of the sixth year of (EGB) in the area of Language and Literature; It should be noted that this research presents a comparison of two educational institutions: Unidad Educative del Milenio Sayausí, in Cuenca and the Manuel Muñoz Cordero School of Basic Education in the city of Azogues; Based on the reading difficulties that students have and that were evidenced in the results obtained through a survey, diagnostic test and interviews with grade teachers, a didactic guide was implemented in order to improve reading comprehension levels. On the other hand; The proposed proposal for the strengthening of the reading comprehension levels focuses on the elaboration and application of a didactic guide, which contains recreational activities, which allow the development of the knowledge and learning of the student in various forms of communication, specifically when reading, inferring and evaluating various texts during their academic process; as well as when reading in other social contexts outside the classroom.
