Abstract
Chess represents a great benefit for the development of people's thinking. In such a way that it generates a higher academic performance when it is educationally associated with abstract disciplines, such as mathematics, whose subject currently requires the implementation of new tools that contribute to the learning process. Therefore, in this research entitled "Chess as a didactic tool to improve mathematical logical reasoning within the 3rd year of BGU of the U.E. César Dávila", the main objective is to analyze the effect on logical reasoning through the use of chess as a didactic tool. The research is related to the interpretative paradigm with a mixed approach, of a quasi-experimental type, a comparative measurement is made by means of quantitative and qualitative analysis; from which, based on the results obtained through the applied instruments, the existence of routine methodologies, deficit in the understanding of concepts, difficulty in problem solving and disinterest in the subject were determined. Likewise, for the application of the didactic tool, Medina and Mata (2009) and Domínguez (2015) were taken as a reference, in mathematical logical reasoning, Pólya (1966) and Dávila (2006). The results of this study evidence an improvement in the skills and abilities of the students, whose effect has been demonstrated in the analysis of the indicators of the operationalization of the study variables. It is concluded that chess is a reliable option to generate a correct and innovative learning process within the subject of Vectors in R3, which stimulates the mathematical logical reasoning involved in the theoretical and practical association.
