Abstract
In the area of Mathematics, one of the challenges for teachers is to implement strategies or methods for teaching, which is why this research arises from the educational practices that were implemented in the Ricardo Muñoz Chávez Educational Unit in the second year of General Basic Education, where the presence of unmotivated students and with a low level of learning in relation to natural numbers was observed. Thus, through this analysis arises the need to teach in a different way from the didactic and achieve effective learning in students. Therefore, the objective of the research is to implement a system of activities based on the Singapore method to improve the teaching-learning of natural numbers up to 99 through the application of its three phases (concrete-pictorial-abstract) in the second year of primary school. This work was developed within the interpretative paradigm with a qualitative approach, in turn, participant observation and interview were the main techniques that allowed the collection of information, which was recorded in the field diaries, interview guide and checklist, applied as instruments. The implementation of the proposal was novel and new for the students, since, many of the times they took into account what was established in the curriculum about using concrete material, but few times what was established was reflected, which is why, by implementing the Singapore method, students were able to have a better performance based on the contents regarding natural numbers and at the same time enhance their reasoning ability.
