Abstract
Previous research indicates that text comprehension is a process that allows the student to decode messages; In addition, to enter the baccalaureate, students must perform correctly in the three levels corresponding to reading comprehension. This degree work was carried out during pre-professional practices at the Manuel Muñoz Cordero School. After the observations, the accompaniment and the experimentation, it was necessary to recognize that the reading comprehension of the Tenth-Year students was only at the literal level, for which the need arose to work on the teaching-learning process of reading comprehension, to improve the inferential and critical evaluative level. This process was carried out based on the application of the reading sheets, which include different texts of interest to the students. The main objective was to apply this reading resource to strengthen reading comprehension in Upper Basic students. This research begins with the theoretical foundation to identify the bases and significant contributions on the chosen theme. Regarding the methodology applied for the development of this work, there is a qualitative approach, likewise it is indicated that it is a participatory investigation that allowed direct contact with the students. The interpretive paradigm allowed the analysis and interpretation of different situations in the investigative process. On the other hand, the information collection technique was participant observation and among the instruments used are: the student survey, the teacher interview, the field diaries, the pre-test and the post-test that allowed obtaining valuable data on the state of reading comprehension of the students, to apply the proposal based on reading cards.
