Abstract
The current educational system requires adapting to the demands of the digital era, such as the efficient incorporation of new technologies and pedagogical strategies in the classrooms. In this way, this research work focuses on recognizing the potential offered by a virtual learning environment (VLE) to strengthen reading comprehension as a priority aspect in the development of English language skills in students. On the other hand, the main objective of this study is the validation by experts of the viability of the AVA to reinforce the reading comprehension of English in First Year Baccalaureate students of Sinincay High School. The proposal was designed with the exelearning software, taking into account David Merrill's instructional model for its development. Regarding the approach of this study, it is mainly quantitative with a cross-sectional descriptive design, which led to the collection of information through the application of a reading comprehension knowledge test to the students and a validation sheet of the proposal by experts. The favorable results of the proposal determined that its application could benefit the strengthening of the students’ ability to interpret texts in English. In conclusion, this work highlights the need to incorporate a virtual learning environment in the teaching of English and offers a basis for future research in this educational field.
