Abstract
The present qualitative research was based on understanding the development of phonological awareness in a student with severe hearing loss, Hearing Impairment (HI), for this, participant observation (field diaries) and a PECO Phonological Knowledge Assessment Test were used, which was assessed at an initial stage (Pre-test) with a result of 46.66% (14 of 30 hits) having significant difficulty in syllabic knowledge. From these results, an educational proposal is elaborated, which went through a process of validation of experts, with activities based on the methodology of the game that contribute to the learning of phonological awareness. Finally, the progress of the development of phonological awareness of the case is evaluated with the same instrument (PECO) (Post-test) obtaining 76.66% (23 of 30 successes) with an evident improvement in syllabic and phonemic knowledge. The research concludes with satisfactory results, a remarkable progress in phonological awareness and the product of an educational proposal (individual and group), as a model for the learning of phonological awareness with respect to the needs of the person with HI and the practice of inclusion in basic education classrooms.
