Abstract
A study was carried out with the aim of understanding the development of mathematical logical reasoning in upper basic students. The research focused on 19 students of 10th year corresponding to the upper basic level, with an approximate age of 14 to 15 years, of these 6 are women and 11 are men. From whom, together with the teacher, information was collected to know the processes that follow to develop mathematical logical reasoning, with a previous theoretical support and a subsequent analysis and discussion of the data. As instruments were used an interview addressed to the teacher, a survey and test to the students and a documentary analysis of the PUD and the quimestral test. The results show that mathematics is guided by misconceptions that elude reason and prioritize qualifications. In addition, the development of mathematical logical reasoning is implicit in the learning of the content, reason why students do not reach the true action of reasoning, understand the what and why and internalize each knowledge, to apply it later in everyday life.
